Beispiel für einen HTV, der nicht morpht und bei dem der die Postionen der angeklickten Knoten von den Positionen der schließlich hervorgehobenen deutlich abweicht: Nach jedem Schritt (= Anklicken) muss man erstmal mit den Augen das Fenster absuchen, um die neue Position des soeben angeklickten Knotens zu finden.

The hyperbolic layout employs the following techniques:
- Radical Layout: Conventionally, trees are displayed on a Euclidean plane with the root at the top and children below their parents and connected to their parents with edges. The hyperbolic layout uses a radical layout. The root is placed at the center while the children are placed at an outer ring to their parents. The circumference jointly increases with the radius and more space becomes available for the growing numbers of intermediate and leaf nodes.
- Distortion Technique: Hyperbolic layout uses a nonlinear
(distortion) technique to accommodate focus and context for a large number of nodes. - Non Overlapping:To ensure that nodes do not overlap each other, hyperbolic layout algorithms assign an open angle for each node. All children of a node are laid out in this open angle.
- Refocusing: Transformations are provided to allow fluent node repositioning. Users can click on a node to move it to the center or to grab and reposition a single node."

"Vasil Babamov is the Editor of the Chemical Abstracts Thesaurus. He oversees the development of the Thesaurus, which currently has about 15,000 preferred terms, and its integration into the building of the CA database.
A particularly concern is the implications that the expanded networked applications of thesauri will have on the development of the thesaurus structure and content to ensure that the thesaurus remains a useful tool for purposes beyond its traditional implementation. Another concern is with providing networked thesaurus access to the analysts involved in building the database and maximizing the benefits of using the thesaurus in the database building process. The CA Thesaurus is presently fully accessible only internally: on STN via the existing STN thesaurus software; via an Intranet web-based hypertext thesaurus tool; and via a couple of internally developed tools that partially integrate the thesaurus into the database building process. We are anticipating incorporating the thesaurus into the public access to the CA database on STN, the web-based STN-easy and Scifinder that provide access to multiple databases, and into other planned CAS products. Additional work needs to be done on the thesaurus to enable automatic backfile search in light of the major changes our vocabulary has undergone. The only public assess to the thesaurus is a restricted version of the internal web thesaurus hypertext tool that provides only a listing of the thesaurus terms. This listing can be accessed at: http://www.cas.org/vocabulary/. "Term Tree Thesaurus construction software" ist noch ein Exemplar der Gattung Filemanger-Tree-Viewer. Obwohl, dieser Tree-Viewer hier ist etwas aufwändiger als einige andere Exemplare.

So, dieses Blog hat jetzt 121 Einträge. Das heißt, es ist definitiv Zeit, damit aufzuhören, immer noch weitere Treffer mit aufzunehmen. – Andererseits müssen die vorhandenen Treffer ausgewertet werden. Dadurch steigt die Anzahl der Einträge wohl noch ein Weilchen.
Da es sich bei MeSH auch um eine Ontologie handelt, könnte Cat-a-Cone: An Interactive Interface for Specifying Searches and Viewing Retrieval Results using a Large Category Hierarchy in meinem Zshg. relevant sein. Das wäre dann schonmal ein Cone View für die Visualisierung.
