- New Age Navigation: Innovative Information Interfaces for Electronic Journals von Gerry McKiernan (PDF): [Abstract:] "While it is typical for electronic journals to offer conven-tional search features similar to those provided by electronic databases, a select number of e-journals have also made available higher-level access options as well. In this article, we review several novel technologies and implementations that creatively exploit the inherent potential of the digital environment to further facilitate use of e-collections. We conclude with speculation on the functionalities of a next-generation e-journal interface that are likely to emerge in the near future.", 2003

Aus dem Abstract: "...The Java-based general thesaurus browser GenThes is able to handle several heterogeneous, multilingual thesauri. With the General European Multilingual Environmental Thesaurus (GEMET), GenThes is currently being used with several environmental catalogue systems. Feedback from users reveal that this approach greatly facilitates search and retrieval as compared to free-text only search. Performance which is crucial in Web applications as well has been improved by reducing the transfer volume of data and code. The software architecture of GenThes supports easy configuration and adaption to the individual needs of different systems that it is connected to...."

"[Abstract] A graph based information retrieval framework for the visualization of clusters of related legal documents is proposed. Clusters are obtained through the analysis of the citations and topics of the retrieved documents.

A Flexible Architecture for Content and Concept Based Multimedia Information Exploration [PDF] via SEPA 6/e Downloadable Reference Library: "Traditional hypermedia systems can be extended to allow content based matching to give more flexibility for user navigation, but this approach is still limited by the capabilities of multimedia matching technology. The addition of a multimedia thesaurus can overcome some of these limitations by allowing multimedia representations of concepts to act like synonyms in the query process."

(Quelle @ 20040512.09-20, Abschnitt "Hierarchische Relation:", Satz 3)

(Quelle @ 20040512.08-50, Abschnitt "I.

(Quelle @ 20040512.08-47, Abschnitt "I. Thesaurus")
